Yao Zheng'an, male, born on September 14, 1960. He is a Level-2 r Professor (Yixian Scholar) at the School of Mathematics, Sun Yat-sen University, a doctoral supervisor, and a recipient of the Guangdong Province Special Support Program for Outstanding Talents. He enjoys the special government allowance from the State Council.
Currently, he serves as the Director of the Center for Applied Mathematics of Sun Yat-sen University Institute of Advanced Study Hong Kong, member of the University's Science and Technology Committee, the President of the Guangdong Mathematical Committee, the President of the Guangdong Operations Research Committee, the Director of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao (National) Applied Mathematics Center, member of the National Textbook Committee, and member of the Mathematics Discipline Work Committee of the China Association for Science and Technology's Young Talent Program. He is also a member of the 7th and 8th Guangdong Provincial Committee of the Chinese Association for Science and Technology and a member of the 9th Standing Committee. He is a member of the overall expert group of the "Mathematics and Applied Research" key special project of the Ministry of Science and Technology. He is the group leader of the National Science Standards Committee for Mathematics, Statistics, and Psychology. He is the director of the Guangdong Provincial University Mathematics Teaching Guidance Committee. He is a standing director of the China Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics, the deputy director of the Academic Committee, the deputy director of the Mathematical Medicine Special Committee, and the deputy director of the Mathematics and Enterprise Special Committee. He is a member of the Evaluation Committee and the Competition Committee of the Chinese Mathematical Society. He was a member of the Teaching Guidance Committee for Basic Mathematics Courses in Higher Education Institutions of the Ministry of Education and an expert reviewer for the National Natural Science Foundation of China. He was the former dean of the School of Mathematics at Sun Yat-sen University. He is an editorial board member of the journals "Applied Functional Analysis" and "Pure and Applied Mathematics".
In 2009, he was awarded the title of "Outstanding Teacher of South China" by Guangdong Province. He is a member of the guidance expert group for the National Natural Science Foundation of China's Major Research Program "Cognitive Computing for Audio-Visual Information". From 2011 to 2015, he was a key member of the National 973 Program major research project "Application of Mathematics in Some Major Demands of Information and Related Fields". He is a guidance expert for the 973 Project "Fundamental Theory and Key Technologies of Intelligent Perception in Unstructured Environments". As the principal investigator, he won the second prize of the Guangdong Science and Technology Award in 2013 for "The Theory and Application of Fluid Mechanics"; the first prize of the Guangdong Teaching Achievement Award in 2017; the second prize of the 8th University-level Teaching Achievement Award of Sun Yat-sen University in 2017; the second prize of the National Teaching Achievement Award in 2018 for "Exploration and Practice of the Yixian Model for Cultivating Outstanding Talents in Basic Sciences"; and the Baosteel Excellent Teacher Award in 2018. In 2022, he received the "Outstanding Mentor Award for the Ten-Year Middle School Student Talent Program" from the China Association for Science and Technology and the Office of the Ministry of Education. In 2023, he was commended by the United Front Work Department of Guangdong Province for his contributions and suggestions to the construction of internal and external networks. In 2024, he was commended by the National Natural Science Foundation of China's High-Tech Center for his efforts as a member of the project writing group and the overall expert group in the management of multiple projects.
His main research directions are the theory and application of partial differential equations and computer communication. His research interests include fluid mechanics, numerical solutions of partial differential equations, information security, image processing, and data analysis. He has made significant contributions in the study of computer security, image processing, one-dimensional compressible flow and hyperbolic conservation laws, multiple solutions of nonlinear elliptic partial differential equations, global solutions of nonlinear parabolic partial differential equations, homogenization theory of solutions for evolution equations such as semilinear parabolic, Schrödinger, and wave equations.
Currently, he is leading one national key research and development plan project (Ministry of Science and Technology), one key project and one general project of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and two key projects of the National Science Foundation for Distinguished Young Scholars.He has completed one sub-project of the National Natural Science Foundation key project "Partial Differential Equation Methods in Image Processing and Their Numerical Methods," served as one of the key leaders for the sub-project of the Ministry of Education and Ministry of Finance major project "Higher Education Undergraduate Enrollment Forecasting System," and completed multiple National Natural Science Foundation key and general projects, as well as two provincial-level projects. He has led or participated in over 30 concluded projects and completed multiple national confidentiality agency projects related to image processing or secure image transmission. He has also completed multiple projects for Baiyun District, China Mobile Guangdong, and Guangdong Telecom in data processing. He has authored or translated five books and published over 200 papers in domestic and international journals.
