Dr. Anlong Xu

Professor, Doctoral Supervisor, Dean of Sun Yat-sen University Institute of Advanced Studies Hong Kong (IAS). Former Director of the National Key Laboratory of Harmful Biological Control and Resource Utilization, Director of the National Engineering Research Center for Marine Biotechnology in the South China Sea, Dean of the School of Life Sciences at Sun Yat-sen University, Vice President of Sun Yat-sen University, and President of Beijing University of Chinese Medicine.

Professor Xu's research focuses on the origin, evolution, function, and mechanisms of human immune defense diversity, as well as the prevention and treatment of immune-related diseases. His team has made groundbreaking and systematic contributions to this field. He has led 17 national-level research projects, including the National Outstanding Youth Fund, the 973 Program, the 863 Program, Key Projects of the National Natural Science Foundation, and the National Key Research and Development Program. As the corresponding author, he has published over 200 SCI-indexed papers in leading international journals, including Nature, Cell, Nat Cell Biol, J Hepatol, Gut, Cell Res, Natl Sci Rev, Kidney Int, J Clin Invest, PNAS, PLoS Biology, EMBO J, Cell Rep, STTT, J Biol Chem, J Immunol, Sci China Life Sci, etc. He has edited two books, and holds over 60 national invention patents. He has received three First Prizes of the Guangdong Provincial Science and Technology Award/Natural Science Award (2005, 2008, and 2018), a Second Prize of the National Natural Science Award (2012), and a First Prize of the Chinese Pharmaceutical Society Science and Technology Award (2017), as well as a First Prize of the Beijing Higher Education Teaching Achievement Award (2021).

Dr. Sheng Fei

Sheng Fei, Professor and Doctoral Supervisor at the Department of History, Sun Yat-sen University, holds joint appointments at the Boya College and the School of International Relations. He currently serves as Director of the Oceania Research Center, a regional and country studies base under China's Ministry of Education, and Editor-in-Chief of China's Annual Report on Oceania Development (Blue Book).

In 2012, he received his Ph.D. in World History from Peking University. In 2013, he completed postdoctoral research at the Rachel Carson Center for Environment and Society at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich, Germany. His main research areas include modern world environmental history, Pacific history, and Chinese overseas migration issues.

He has published one monograph and multiple authoritative papers. He has led several important funded research projects and maintains collaborative research relationships with academic institutions in the United States, New Zealand, Russia, Brazil, Japan, the UK, and other countries.

 

Assistant Dean

Jinxin Bei

Jinxin Bei, Distinguished Professor, serves as Chief Investigator and Deputy Director of the Experimental Research Department at Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center and the State Key Laboratory of South China Malignancy Control. He is also Joint Professor at the National Cancer Centre Singapore and Honorary Professor at the Department of Clinical Oncology, Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine, The University of Hong Kong.

His honors include:

  • 2011: Selected for the Ministry of Education's New Century Excellent Talents Support Program
  • 2015: Selected as Chang Jiang Young Scholar under the Chang Jiang Scholars Program
  • 2016: Third contributor to the Second Prize of the National Natural Science Award
  • 2018: Recipient of the 2nd Chinese Anti-Cancer Association Young Cancer Scientist Award
  • 2019: Selected as Chang Jiang Distinguished Professor

His research focuses on analyzing the contributions and mechanisms of genetic susceptibility, acquired alterations, and environmental factors (both endogenous and exogenous) to cancer heterogeneity.

Current research projects he leads include:
