Senior Experimentalist Lu Yong has been appointed as Research Assistant of our institute for a five-year term, from September 2025 to August 2030.
With over 10 years of rich experience in laboratory animal management, he has made outstanding achievements in the breeding, feeding and management of non-human primates (laboratory monkeys), animal facility operation, ethical review process and animal welfare improvement. He pioneered the artificial insemination technology for laboratory monkeys in China, successfully breaking through the bottleneck of low reproductive capacity in aged non-human primates.He obtained the Practicing Veterinarian Qualification Certificate of the People's Republic of China in 2017 and the ALAT Certificate from the American Association for Laboratory Animal Science (AALAS) in 2022.
He has led the veterinary team to provide solid support for a number of national and municipal scientific research projects, including the Innovative Research Group Program of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the National Key Research and Development Program and the Science and Technology Innovation 2030 Major Program. In addition, he has published research papers on improving the welfare of non-human primate laboratory animals and enhancing the capacity of artificial assisted reproduction as the first author in journals such as Heliyon and the American Journal of Primatology.
