Professor Antonio Vidal-Puig is appointed as a Distinguished Visiting Professor and a member of the International Advisory Committee of our Institute for a term of five years, from August 2025 to July 2030.

Professor Vidal-Puig is a member of Academia Europaea (MAE), a Fellow of the Academy of Medical Sciences (FMedSci), and a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (FRCP). He is currently Professor of Molecular Nutrition and Metabolism at the University of Cambridge. He serves as a Principal Investigator at the Medical Research Council Metabolic Diseases Unit (MRC MDU), where he leads both fundamental and translational research on metabolic diseases. He also serves as an Honorary Consultant in Metabolic Medicine at Addenbrooke’s Hospital.

His research, together with his team, focuses on uncovering the molecular mechanisms linking obesity to insulin resistance, diabetes, and cardiometabolic complications, with the aim of identifying novel therapeutic targets. To date, he has published 242 peer-reviewed articles in leading international journals, with an h-index of 119 and more than 50,000 citations.
