Dr. Wensheng Zhang is appointed as Principal Investigator of SYSUIASHK. He received his Ph.D. from the National University of Singapore. His research focuses on the regulation of stem cell pluripotency maintenance and differentiation. He has published more than 50 SCI-indexed papers, including over 20 as first or corresponding author in leading journals such as Cell Stem Cell, Developmental Cell, Nature Methods, and Nature Communications, with a total citation count exceeding 4,500. His research has been supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the National Key R&D Program of China.
Dr. Zhang was selected as an Entrepreneurial Leading Talent of Suzhou High-Tech Zone in 2019 and as a recipient of the Jiangxi Province “Ganpo Talents Program” in 2024. From 2012 to 2018, he initiated and facilitated the establishment of the Cambridge–Soochow (Cam–Su) Genomic Resources Center through collaboration among the Wellcome Sanger Institute, the University of Cambridge, and Soochow University. From 2021 to 2025, he further contributed to and supported multiple educational and research collaborations between the University of Cambridge and institutions including Zhejiang University and Gannan Medical University.
